Huichol Art...
The Huichol peoples of Mexico are known for their art that is made with beads and threads. They depict the mythology of their culture. The images represented in their pieces come from the sacred plant medicine journeys and the mythology that they believe it. The deer, peyote flower, serpent, scorpion, lizard and rabbit are very common images portrayed. Each one of these pieces is created either on pieces of gourds or on wood forms. A layer of bees wax is applied to the surface and then one by one the beads are applied to create the design. Each piece is a one of a kind creation. For a larger view click on the bowl image.
Note: Do not leave these pieces in the sun.
